Sign Language Posters

I have been working with Sis and BB on learning a 2nd language and I feel God strongly pulling us to sign language. We got some Signing Time DVD's from the library and our vocabulary skyrocketed. Sis and I know over 150 words in like 1 month of watching different Signing Time shows. We have been teaching Daddy and BB has learned a few like: more, all done, and bye. :-)

I made these ABC signs to help Sis learn the ASL alphabet so we can finger spell our names and names of things that don't have a sign or things we dont' know how to sign yet.

Sis and Brother Bear

Oh how I love when they play  well together. Today was a struggle for me as, brother bear wanted to be held all day long. I have been trying to hold him in the moby wrap, but after awhile, he still gets very heavy. Thankfully this too shall pass and he will learn to speak and can tell me what he wants and not need to cry all day long.

When I got a "break" from holding my sweet boy, it was my darling daughter who kept him busy playing so I could get some things done...like snap pictures of them HAHA

He loves this tent (even though it is a pink princess tent)

Here they are "hiding" from me..Peak a Boo!!

Sweet Sissy Girl

Look at that special boy.

Then they moved on to their rooms. Pic 1 is BB's room. He just got toys put in there so he can play in his room now. He also just learned how to pull open his room darkening shade, so we might be moving his crib soon.

This is of Sis jumping off her barbie box. BB likes to stand on anything he can. He has no fear, except to be away from Mommy :-)

Praying for a better day tomorrow and more playing time than crying time :-)

5th Wednesday Co-Op Field Trip day

The CO-OP I am a part of meets on Wednesdays. Right now it is only my kids and another family that has 3 little ones. I'm sure as the years go on we will either add people to our group or attend a larger CO-OP, but for the season we are in right now (little babies) this works very good.

We attended The Henry Doorly Zoo this morning. If none of you have never been, it is very neat. They are improving it all the time. They finshed the aquarium about four months or so ago..NEAT-O!!
Sis with the lions. See her Daddy's work sponsors the zoo :-)

Beautiful!

Creepy!! They were all growling at the lion.

We had so much fun and the weather was good too.

Trying to get organized

So I am trying to find a place for everything in our school room. Our school room has been an unfinished junk collecting basement, until my brother in law and Scott finished it. Then it was a finished junk collecting basement :-) Then it was a living room/computer room. Then when I was a daycare provider it was a playroom. Then it became a computer room/sleep room for daycare kids. Then after I was done with being a daycare provider it became a craft room (for me) and playroom. Now (haha) it is a school room. I still have my craft things in there, but I don't have it all out, and there are still toys in there, but I need something for brother bear to do while I get school stuff ready.
It's not a huge room, but it will work. Since there are space limitations I decided to explore new organization with stack able file holders. I figured I would get the stack able ones so I could add more if I needed someday and still save space.
It works well for us right now with just one kid.

This is an up close of how I organize the different pre-school activities.

Mom's side of the basement. See my desk, 25.00 Target shelves...yes I know homeschooling moms love love love IKEA, however, I 1. have never been to an actual store so I haven't ever had a chance to fall in love with their stuff and 2. Online there stuff looks to be out of my price range. I have had 1 of those white shelves for 7 years and the other for 3. They are doing well still :-)
We have a baby"gate" to keep brother bear out of my stuff.

This is the school side. You can see Sis's desk, her whiteboard, our calendar board, and here she is playing with her felt board and felt people. It is clean when we go downstairs and everyday when we are done it looks like this :-)
Other side of school side. We have a TV, Brother bear toys, small little workbox, and a bean bag for reading.

I'm sure it will have a drastic change when Brother bear is old enough to do school with us, but for now it works for us.

Letter E

Sis working on the letter E, the number 6 and the sight word is.

Eating her apples and getting ready for school time
She found 18 and will put it on the calendar...still eating her apples

Sis is putting the day of the week "Monday" up on the Today is: spot

Looking out our front door to see the weather. It was sunny, and cloudy( sis says everyday with a cloud in the sky is cloudy) :-)

Tracing the letter E for the 1st time

Coloring her verse sheet. She doesn't really like to color. She likes to paint and I am going to get together a painting box (idea my sister-in-law emailed me) so I have less planning and less mess to clean up with paint. About at this time she was complaining how she didn't want to color anymore and she wanted to read her books.

We usually read about 3-4 books together after "desk time" is done. We are getting a book storage system set up right now. I will post pictures after Scott finishes his honey-do list :-)

Then she "reads books by herself while I clean up from the day and get ready for the next day.
Calendar time also includes, Name spelling, birthday review, phone number learning and soon money/coin learning.

Writing her letter E's all by herself. She did a really good job. I am amazed everyday at how much she learns and I thank God for the patience and wisdom to get through the week.

I bought her a math book for extra number practice. This is the 1st time she has written in the book. The 28 previous pages we were able to do sitting on the couch cuddling with no writing utensil.

Ones...easy...Twos...not so much :-)
She will be tracing these and having more practice. It actually is kinda hard when all we have worked on so far is straight line letters.

Wall of Work
This is where I put everything that we have done so Daddy can see what we did that day. It's magnetic and it super nice. Just magnetic paint and then painted over to match the rest of the school room.

Well that's it Week 6 is done. Join us for Week 7

Swimming Time

Scott, Sis, my mother in law and I went to Scott's aunt's for our annual swim-cation. Scott's aunt makes amazing food and we have fun swimming in her underground heated pool. So nice and so wonderful :-) It was a little cloudy this year, but we swam any way. Sis had so much fun. We got her a life jacket and water wings to keep her a float. One of the water wings had a hole in it around the valve so we had to keep re blowing it up, ha ha.
She wouldn't go off the diving board, but she thought about it :-)

Sweet little girl

It's our family picture there, but it seems incomplete with our boy there

Such a sweet girl! She found a flower and gave it to me.

Great action shot of her jumping of the side

Meet my family

Scott (best husband ever)
Lover of sport!!!.Loves to play basketball and run. Huge fan of Oklahoma Sooners and Chicago Bulls. Secretly wishes he was about 7 inches taller so he could be a NBA player. Works for an insurance company for the past 4 years. My high school sweetheart. My best friend, a really funny guy and the person who lead me to Christ.

Here he is after running in the Warrior Dash.

Andrea (ME)

I love crafty things. I enjoy making hair bows and scrap booking. New at homeschooling, but learning that I really love that too. I am a Certified Medical Assistant that realized I didn't want to work outside the home any longer and wanted to work for my family. I hate laundry!!! I like vacuuming and shoes :-) I am very thankful for my family and working everyday to be more like Christ.

Sister ~Sis~Sissy
I will be calling my daughter her nickname we use for her. Every blog I read does not use their children's real name so I won't be either :-)

Sis loves to talk, sing, twirl, dance and give attitude. She is starting dance lessons soon, attends a Cubbies class for AWANA. She enjoys going and playing at MOPS and our bi monthly church play date meetings. She is a Daddy's girl. She weighed 9lbs 3 oz at 39 weeks along. She loves babies and barbies. She is born April of 2008. She is currently in Pre-School. She wears glasses because she has a lazy eye, and she currently wears a patch for 4 hours a day because it is reallly lazy :-) She is sweet and loving at times and has an angry attitude at other times. We love her and pray for her salvation nightly. She is our first born and only little girl.

Brother Bear
Oh my sweet sweet boy!!!
He is...well he's my sweet boy.
He is a total mommas boy and I LOVE it!!
He was born September 2011.
He was an early crawler at 5 months, standing at 7 months and walking at 9 months. He was born at 9 lbs 2oz, but now has thinned out to a healthy 19lbs. So crazy to think he has only gained 10 pounds his whole life. He gets into everything that is in his reach. He will eat anything, even random things that are on the floor go in his mouth. He has a heart warming smile and loves playing with Sis. He does not allow anyone to hold and cuddle him. He is a good sleeper, but will only sleep in his bed.
